Local 20-year-old Memphis pop/rock singer, musician, and songwriter, Joseph Ferrante formed Generation Gap consisting of a wide range of other talented musicians who differ in age and are also from Memphis, TN. He recorded and has played live multiple times with nationally known Christian music artist John Angotti and Buddy Davis, while also playing in SBA bands throughout high school until he formed his own. Generation Gap also has some national background including their drummer Jason Dyer, who is the former touring drummer of the band One Less Reason who opened up for One Republic. Other local musicians include St. Ann’s Catholic Church guitar and bass players Chris Twele and Allen Gramlick, University of Memphis Mighty Sound of the South Saxophonist Austin Lopez, and pianist, singer, and rapper, Daniel Orleans-Lindsay who attends CBU with Joseph. The other head vocalist is Julia Houff who now attends Belmont University and sang in the choir and bands for SBA high school previously, and has many years of vocal experience in multiple genres of music. While being primarily pop/rock music, Generation Gap provides a twist by also playing originals and covers of other styles of music while including the wide range of the age of their musicians and singers. Joseph Ferrante plans to finish writing the last 5-7 songs for his full album soon to be recorded with the band in the next year. Joseph looks at Shawn Mendes music as primarily similar to his original style. However, Generation Gap also maintains an original sound based on a mix of classic rock bands like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi, and alternative rock guitar tones such as bands like Green Day, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Drake Bell music. Due to their wide mix of style and age of band members they like to call themselves “The Avengers” of today’s music.
